San Antonio, Brown Bag Event, Supreme Court in Review 2008

Overview

On Wednesday, October 21, 2009, the San Antonio Chapter of the Federal Bar Association is sponsoring a brown bag event from 12:00-2:00 p.m. in the Adrian A. Spears Judicial Training Center located at 643 E. Durango Boulevard across from the entrance to the federal courthouse. A video of the Supreme Court in Review 2008-09, will be shown and it will be narrated by United States District Judge, Honorable Xavier Rodriguez, and St. Mary's University Law Professor, Michael Ariens. It has been approved for 2 hours of MCLE with the Texas State Bar. A $5 donation is requested.

This seminar is designed to give federal practitioners the skills they need to represent criminal defendants effectively in federal court. It is open to all lawyers currently admitted to practice in the Austin Division of the Western District of Texas who accept appointments under the Criminal Justice Act. Seminar topics will include CJA Voucher Preparation & Procedures Review, Drugs, Guns & Aliens, Excluding Evidence from Auto Searches, Ethics: Dealing with Prosecutorial Misconduct in Argument, and Views from the Bench.

This seminar is designed to give CJA Panel attorneys the skills they need to represent criminal defendants effectively in federal court. It is open to all lawyers currently on the CJA Panel in the San Antonio Division of the Western District of Texas. This seminar will meet the annual CLE requirements of the San Antonio CJA Plan. Seminar topics will include: Defending Your Client Against Unconstitutional Hearsay, Drugs, Guns & Aliens, Payment Vouchers and Other CJA Issues, Views from the Bench, Excluding Evidence from Auto Searches, and Ethics Dealing with Prosecutorial Misconduct.
